Anne Gola donation

Our guild was recently given a large donation of fabric from the Anne Gola estate. Anne was an avid sewist and quilter, and had several photos of her quilts published in magazines. We are grateful for her generosity and will be sure to put the fabric to good use.

From her daughter, Toni Dougherty:

Anne B. Gola of the Upper Askam Section of Hanover Township, was a graduate of St Mary’s Highschool and St Mary’s School of Nursing.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for twenty years at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in the operating room until retirement. Anne was a faithful member of St. Faustina Parish serving for many years as Extraordinary Minster

She loved to quilt and sew and was a member of the Pennsylvania Quilters Association for many years.  In her earlier years of quilting, she had two quilts published in the “Traditional Quilter” Magazine one making the cover of the magazine in April 1991.  Throughout the years, her quilts won several Blue Ribbons from the Luzerne County and Bloomsburg State Fairs.  She loved to make pajamas, books, pillows, stuffed animals and mend the holes of favorite stuffed animals for her grandchildren.  Her favorite type of quilt to make was baby quilts and every new baby in the family received a new baby quilt.  She always had several sets of pillows to donate to the church festival.  Anne has five children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
